It was Nick's 21st birthday today! So we decided to try out The Melting Pot! It was SOOOO GOOD!! I think I might have finally felt what a food orgasm is like. XD And we somehow managed to eat an entire 4 course meal, me usually being filled by just a soup and salad before a full meal!
First there was a cheese fondue with bread, apples, and veggies to dip. Then a salad. Then the main course where we actually got to cook the food ourselves in the pot. The lobster tail was the best thing I've had in awhile! Finally, DESSERT with a chocolate fondue and a whole load of stuff to dip. Surprisingly, the marshmallows were the next best thing I've had?! The place is also really big on wine. They have bottles nicely displayed all over, and the wine list by itself is longer than the menu. D:
Another awesome thing about the place was the whole layout of the dinning room. It wasnt a big open place like restaurants usually are. We were lead down a bunch of corridors and around corners just to get to our table. There were full walls between all the tables. You could maybe only see half of another table from any given seat. The privacy was nice, though I do sometimes like to watch other tables a bit when waiting for our food. Overhearing someone describing the place, we found out we were seating in their specially designed couples section! <3
I really want to go back soon. But it's pretty expensive. Though it might be ok just to go there for dessert!

NOOO, I just discovered a really cute sounding photoshoot I want to try to go to (if they want me) but of course it has to be on FEB 7TH!!! D: I dont know what to do!!!! It sounds like a pretty open shoot so I think the likelihood I can go to it will be high. I need the shots for my profile...but I don't want to miss this meetup again. I already feel bad for missing the first one last year!
Maybe hopefully it will be like really early so I can rush back and make it for at least most of the meet! *crosses fingers* Y.Y

THE SNOW, IT HAS COME!
And bad timing too. I might not be able to make it down this weekend!! Y.Y It's been snowing since this morning at a steady rate. Weather.com says theres a chance it will snow till 3am! That's when Nick gets out of work so he'll be able to test the roads out coming home and make the final decision. We just went out to the store (finally bought a wreath for our door!) and the roads were horrible!
I went out the other day to Michaels and got a couple charms and beads. Im working on a necklace right now I hope to be wearing tomorrow. v.v
But I found this awesome charm company called Black Lace! THEY SO HAVE A LOLITA DRESS CHARM! Which I bought...and just discovered some of the paint chipped off D: So I guess the verdict now is awesome but cheap charms. I got some pictures of the stuff I bought and might make a post on egl about them. Along with some socks I got at target.

I WANT MORE CUCUMBER SANDWICHES!! BADLY!! And I am very upset I didnt get any petite fours or strawberries! Why did they seem rather disorganized this time?
But besides that it was lots of fun of course! And I got big hair! It was a christmas miracle. XD I need to figure out if I can do anything with that leopard bag. It's cute and all but I hate leopard print. Maybe I'll just keep it as a cool bag to jazz up an otherwise boring outfit, though I think I already have too many of those!
Also, did you guys hear about the crazy weather we got up here last week?! There was a nice big ice storm and it seemed like all of albany and the surrounding areas lost power. Somehow my little village survived and we had our big christmas tree in the middle rubbing it in everyone's faces. XD This was thursday night and most people didnt get there power back till sunday.
Luckily (DDDD:) my restaurant managed to keep its power, and incidentally made it like the only restaurant open practically in the area it seemed! Every table was sat plus a line going out the door for hours on friday! People were waiting for 45 minutes just to get a seat let alone wait for their food. Normally they will look at you like you're crazy if you tell them they have to wait 10 minutes! I heard on saturday, they made more money that one day than over the entire summer. Christina, thank you so much for having the tea party when you did. D:
I think there were more trees that died that night than people lost power though. v.v It was crazy driving down, they even had part of the highway closed off. The trees that did survive were so pretty covered in ice, they looked like they were made of crystal! Trees should grow like that normally. :D

So I too have now been hit with the icon plague. D: Does it just go back eventually or do I have to reupload the icon? And has anyone figured out how this happens?
EDIT: Heh, nvm it seems it went away already. XD
I really hate the irony behind this icon too!! I just decided to drop my art class the other day cause I fell way too far behind...fucking paints. And the worse part about it is that I'm probably gonna have to take an extra semester to finish my credits cause of the prerequisites and little to no chance of any of them being offered in the summer. >.<
At least im having a good time in my AutoCAD class.
I dunno what I'm doing for Halloween, if anything. I have class till 4 and then theres a 50/50 chance I'll have work right after. I dont have any real costume planned out anyway. Am I the only one who still wants to go trick or treating? Do any of you still go? I mean it's free candy! Though, when I think about it some more, I've sorta been weaning off most candy so it's not all that enticing after all. *x*
Nick's gonna be leaving me for a week. Y__Y His job has some mandatory vacation time, so they gave him the first week in Nov off and he'll be going home for that time. I of course cant go this time cause of school... what will I do? WHO WILL COOK FOR ME?!
We also just had our 2 year anniversary last week. Went out to The Cheesecake Factory. Got Miso Salmon and cheesecake for their 30th anniversary! ♥

So I just remembered a dream I had last night.
I was looking through my flist really quickly cause I had to leave for work/class/something. And as Im scrolling through, about 5 posts go by from getoffegl about....bananas!? I think I caught one post saying someone get REALLY offended by....bananas. >.>
A few nights ago, I also had a really cool superhero/mutant dream. First it started that I was a voice actor for one of the characters, then it switched over to me actually acting the character. There was a group of about 5 mutants (kinda like teen titans-ish) and the bad guy managed to get one of us to fall in love with him. He ended up using her to get to the rest of us. And there was a big fight, and lots of damage and bad stuff resulted from it. Then the bad guy managed to put all the blame on us. (He was like some politician or something.) So then everyone hates us and we have to run and hide, meanwhile the girl who got tricked by the bad guy is trapped at the top of some building all heartbroken. I think at one point the guy also captures me and drags me around, trying to make me join his side...Oh, and randomly Vash the Stampede and his brother appeared in the middle of the big fight and his brother gets killed, so he hates us too. O.o
I love my complex/nonsense dreams. XD

Anyone else know about them? I've been wanting to go to one of their missions someday but never seen to get around to it. One of their annual ones is next weekend during NYAF so since I would be down there already, maybe I could actually get over to it if there's nothing else entertaining at the time at the con.
Would anyone else want to come to this with me? I think it would be pretty awesome if we got a whole bunch of lolitas there at once and cause an even greater scene. But that probably wouldnt really work for the missions where we have to pretend we dont know the other people. :\
One of these years I MUST go to the No Pants Day, it's one of things I need to do before I die. XD

I think I'd like to save the money for the clothes though...not that I have the money right now to even buy the tickets Y.Y
First week of school is almost over! And I'm actually pretty excited for this semester (so far...ask me again in a month though >.>). They all sound like they're gonna be a billion times easier than any of RPI's crazy classes...and maybe fun! Since theyre all actually engineering/architect type classes. Not intro classes or chemistry (wtf!) or impossible-to-understand asian professors! Surveying though, once it starts to get suuper cold, Im gonna HATE! The teacher says even if theres a blizzard, we'll still have to go outside D: Ohh but the best thing about it all is, Im only 1 of 2 girls in every one of my classes XD
And I got my invite to the Sunday tea party :D Soo excited! But I wasnt able to complete my outfit in time, so I dont know what to wear now!! I really wanted to wear classic too...

So this has been bothering me for some time now off and on, and I think Ill finally try to get my thoughts down on this.
How exactly are himegyaru and lolita really all that different?
Whenever this gets mentions soo many people get in such a hissy fit about it. One of the first arguments seem to be that the lifestyles of both are like polar opposites. I can agree with this in reference to the other gyaru styles, but from the few videos ive seen of himegyarus, they seem to like to live almost exactly like the ideal "lolita lifestyle." Big princessy bedrooms, having picture perfect hair and makeup, meeting up, eating at fancy restaurants...basically being like princesses! Just like the lolita lifestyle right?
Then next comes the clothing. From what I see, the big differences are pretty much no blouses, no frilly knee socks, stiletto heels, and no petticoats. Obviously, there should be these differences since these are basically what makes lolita lolita. If himegyaru had all this, they would be the same fashion. But the rest of the elements are pretty much shared between the two to some extent. Knee length dresses, elaborate hair, bows, lace, floral prints and pastels, a-line or puffier skirts,...there is a lot of crossing over between the two and even himelolita has become a style.
So why do people get so upset when the two are even mentioned in the same sentence? I think my only guess would be that too many himegyarus have been mistaken for lolitas and it got on there nerves, so they've become rather vehement in correcting people. I guess that would be similar to how lolitas can get vehement about correnting people when they think nabokov's lolita. This is just my guess of course. I think there has also been a lot of drama between gyarus and lolita in the past? Making them not want to be even associated with the other?
(I guess this post is mainly for you amber, at least I dont think there's anyone else on my flist who follows gyaru fashion)
Disclaimer: I honestly really dont know all that much about himegyaru. All my knowledge is simply from pictures and videos of the fashion. There needs to be a gyaru handbook, if there isnt already, so I can understand D:

My landlords are trying to sell the house we're staying in so they can move to Florida. So they just had the first showing today, meaning we had to clean like maniacs >.< And all for not even a 5 minute stop...Well at least the place is nice and clean, right? You would think, but it is actually such an eye sore to me right now! Maybe I just need to get used to it, or maybe there's something wrong with me? O.o Either way Nick swears he's gonna make sure it stays this way whether I like it or not!

Fuck, I just watched a really sad movie (so sad it made the sky cry too *thunder storm!*) and now im in such a depressed mood!! It sucks...but I also sorta subconsciously like to stay like this a think about it...I dont even know why since nothing ever comes out of it more than half the time, Im soo self-destructive its not even funny >.>
(Having the song from it stuck in my head really isnt helping either, but I like it! Y.Y)
I guess I better go watch some super hyper bouncy anime or something now!
Oh, and despite all that you should go watch it too: Kagen no Tsuki. Its based off the manga by Ai Yazawa and Hyde's in it for those who care ^_^ You can also find the scanlations (by Storm in Heaven) if you want to read it instead/too. I need to do that next, but I think I should save that for another day...
